Perspective

평면·입면·단면 이미지가 한꺼번에 떠올라 여러 차원에서 잘 맞아떨어진 안이었다. 그런데 그렇게 쉽게 풀리는 경우일수록 대개 좋지 않다는 것이 문제다 — 문제가 있는 줄 모르고 거기까지 갔거나, 처음부터 방향이 잘못된 것을 몰랐던 경우가 대부분이다.

Overview

After staring for days at the monitor where the site was drawn, the plan, elevation, section, and image came to mind all at once, and as I drew each one, the picture fell into place across many dimensions.

That is always the problem. When something new comes that easily, it usually means you don't realize it isn't good, or you have come this far without seeing a problem, or you never knew the direction was wrong from the start.

By my own reckoning it was rather well made, and the client agreed — yet, not knowing which case applied, I had to rethink and redo the work accordingly. Disheartening and regrettable, but since the common task for everyone involved is to obtain an architecturally meaningful result, I began once more to fix my gaze on the monitor showing nothing but the site boundary.
