Design
Challenge
적은 비용이라는 조건에서 단순함만으로는 경제성을 이뤘다고 할 수 없다. 시공 난이도와 디테일의 합리성, 공정 효율을 미리 검토하면서 디자인해야 조형과 경제성을 함께 얻는다고 보았다.
Approach
강대와 예배실의 평면·단면에 성소로서의 중세 교회가 가진 원근법적이고 시선 집중형인 공간 개념을 시도했다. 측면 간접조명의 고창, 강대 상부의 천창, 좌우와 상부로 갈수록 줄어드는 스케일이 그 방법이다.
Overview
Even at the lowest cost, simplicity alone cannot be said to achieve an economic goal.
Many complex factors are variables, but speaking only of form, I am convinced that when constructability, rational detailing, and process efficiency are reviewed in advance and designed together, producing good sculptural effect can in fact pursue economic profit.
For the plan and section of the pulpit and worship hall, a perspectival, focus-drawing spatial concept of the medieval church as a sanctuary was attempted — the side indirect-lighting clerestory, the skylight above the pulpit, and the scale diminishing to the left, right, and above.
Exposed concrete was applied where no additional process such as insulation was needed, to reduce the burden of increased cost from high-quality construction while achieving a certain effect.
