Site

남해 바다를 사이에 두고 거제도를 마주한 통영, 신시가지 개발이 한창인 상업지의 대지다.

Brief

청담동 일대를 함께 둘러보며 그와 같은 결의 참신한 디자인을 원한 건축주였다.

Challenge

7층 높이에 200여 미터 입면이라 정면의 비율이 다소 어정쩡했다.

Approach

계단실을 선형 요소로 따로 분리하고 그 사이에 음각하듯 수직 홈을 만들었다. 투명 복층유리와 불투명 시트를 붙인 유리를 조합해 외벽 커튼월의 패턴을 구성했다.

Overview

A city facing Geoje Island by the South Sea, where the youth of the composer Yun I-sang lingers.

This building was planned in a commercial district of Tongyeong, then in the midst of new-town development. The client toured the Cheongdam-dong area with us and asked for that kind of fresh design.

With a roughly 200-meter elevation at seven stories, the somewhat awkward proportions of the front were addressed by separating the stair as its own linear element and carving a vertical groove between.

The pattern of the exterior glass curtain wall was composed by combining transparent insulated glazing with glass bearing an opaque sheet.
